My work is rooted in emotion. Real people, real moments, captured by someone who knew when to capture the “moment”. I came to wedding photojournalism the same way most photographers find their style: by looking back at early work from other artists and noticing which images still held up. The ones that aged well weren't the ones with the trendiest poses. They were the ones captured as the day unfolded. The small, unscripted moment that said more about the couple than any scripted portrait session could.

Jesus Laurel

My work is rooted in emotion. Real people, real moments, captured by someone who knew when to capture the “moment”. I came to wedding photojournalism the same way most photographers find their style: by looking back at early work from other artists and noticing which images still held up. The ones that aged well weren't the ones with the trendiest poses. They were the ones captured as the day unfolded. The small, unscripted moment that said more about the couple than any scripted portrait session could. That's what I chase now, on every wedding. Editorial photography ages with the trends it borrows from. Real moments don't. I'd be proud to hang weddings I shot decades ago right alongside the portfolio I'm still building today, and that's the standard I will hold for every shoot.

We hired Jesus for our August wedding and he exceeded our expectations! When I was looking for a photographer, I wanted someone with an eye for unique and film inspired photography. I wanted the photos to tell a story, and let me tell you, they were incredible captures! Jesus was very organized, professional and detail oriented. He has a ton of tools in his tool kit including B&W photos, and beautiful after dusk photos! He was great to ask about any sensitive family dynamics, what we envisioned for each step of the day, and really put in the time and effort to fulfill all of our wishes. By the end of the wedding, he was family! He got the photos back to us quickly and we are so grateful to have these moments forever!
